Anuradhapura & Wilpattu

Anuradhapura is one of the most noted and respected ancient cities in Asia if not in the world. It is home to some of the oldest ruins in form of crumbled temples, dagobas that have been reclaimed by nature, preserved to maintain its importance in the Sri Lankan Culture. In close proximity is the Wilpattu National Park where a vibrant presence of a variety of wildlife will be sensed. In order to complete both expeditions, the journey will start from Colombo or Negombo at 5.30am or the South by 5.00am.

Anuradhapura was a former capital of Sri Lanka with many archaeological and architectural wonders to offer which go back some 1300 years. Some of the sites the tour will cover are beautiful man-made reservoirs, monstrous stupas such as the Abhayagiri Dagoba, the sacred Bo tree Sri Maha Bodhi and many other captivating monuments.

30 minutes away from the ruins of Anuradhapura will be the safari adventure of Wilpattu National Park. It is the largest and oldest national park in Sri Lanka and is known for its heavy population of leopards. The park usually does not get too crowded and this ideal to see larger herds of animals and makes the safari fairly quick to add it into the day tour.
